Look for Less: Miley Shmiley

Hope everyone is great today on this sunny summer day! Lately, I've been loving all the 'Look for Less' posts on a combination of websites so I decided to do one for Miley Cyrus' outfit. This look is going to be great for summer: the high waisted shorts are perfect for hot days, the lace tights let your skin breath, and you can take the plaid button-down off when it's hot to reveal a cute simple tee.
If there's one thing you're going to spend the most on in this outfit, it would be the boots. It's hard to find nice-quality high boots that are inexpensive unless you get very lucky at a cheap vintage store. Vintage stores are great places to find cool boots though. However, this pair of boots  from Restricted Shoes look very similar with the buckles and they come in a few colors including black.
The story about the high-waisted trend... it looks good on everyone. I have millions of pairs of them because they're super comfy, you can dress them up or down, they go with just about anything (including crop tops which are definitely on trend right now), and they can be super inexpensive depending on where you get them. I've seen ridiculous pricing online for them on Topshop and on designer's websites and truth is: the best place to shop for them is at Goodwill or Savers. I've gotten all mine from those two stores and they are practical, super cute and have that vintage look. In the picture, Miley wears distressed cut offs, so cut off however much you want if they're not already cut off and distress them yourself by watching this helpful video. (My next blog post will prolly be only about high-waisted pieces. I'm obsessed ;)
The lace tights you can get anywhere... Target? Forever 21? Wal-mart might have some. These tights from Express would resemble Miley's.
Her t-shirt is pretty self-explanatory considering it's a plain tan shirt. You could substitute the tan for a cream or off-white shirt, depending on what you have in your closet. You could go with a tube top, tank, short sleeved, long-sleeved; whatever floats your boat. Whatever shirt you pick out though, make sure that there's a way to make it short/cropped. If that's cropping it with scissors, tucking it in, or knotting the extra fabric, it will flaunt your high-waisted shorts. On Wet Seal's website they have lots of crop tops that are reasonably priced. The shorter the top, the better.
I'm pretty sure that the boyfriend plaid shirt that Miley is wearing is from Abercrombie & Fitch. You could also find similar button-downs at American Eagle, Hollister, thrift stores, and your dad's/brother's/boyfriend's closet. Cyrus' isn't super fitted so a boyfriend plaid shirt is ideal (and super comfy).
For jewelry, the main idea is tribal and turquoise. You can find lots of cheap options at Forever 21, H&M, and Target probably has a small selection. This set of bracelets from H&M are very tribal inspired and this ring from lulus.com looks similar to the one on Miley's left hand.
For nail polish, I suggest buying some O.P.I. since you can count on it to last for awhile. Black Onyx is a true black. Just trim nails short, paint the polish on your nails, and ta-da!
For makeup: if you choose to wear any at all considering this is a very natural look, just apply foundation, a light light light peachy blush, and a little mascara. For night though, you can pump up the volume with heavy mascara and maybe some teal eyeliner to make your turquoise jewelry and plaid shirt POP! Hair: just make it wavy by loosely curling it or if you have naturally curly hair, brush it out. The messier, the better.
I hope this was helpful and that you can incorporate anything I mentioned into your daily fashion. Comment and email me at peace.love.jessndaisy@gmail.com about your blogs or what you want to see more of. I'm going to try to get the video situation worked out really extra-super-duper soon. A Twitter for Daisy This, Daisy That may be in the future. Lemme know about anything below! Have a great day and see you in the next post! Love, JessnDaisy

  1. I found where Shmiler's boots are from. They're Frye boots (amazing boots, go buy some, they'll last forever) and here's the link: http://stores.thefryecompany.com/-strse-3028/frye-women%27s-boots-engineer/Detail.bok?category=
