I've been in the mood to blog lots lately, so hope you're excited to read :) Maybe because it's
finally summer vacation and I don't know what else I would be doing with my time. I should probably practice cello since I have a lesson tomorrow which I am not ready for, but for right now I'm going to share with you my obsession, and maybe yours too...
High-Waisted Shorts. YUM.
There are many different kinds of high waisted pieces. Pants, shorts, skirts, jeans, bathing suits. They make your legs look longer and are a great piece to have in your closet. I've kind of been wanting a high-waisted bathing suit. Thoughts?

Ways to wear them and have it look flattering: Lots of people claim that this trend is unflattering and that the high waistlines just don't work. Maybe that's the case, but like with any "daring" piece of clothing, you have to pair with it what's going to flatter your figure and find ways to make your outfit look trendy, fun, and good. Crop tops always look good with high-waisted bottoms. The shorter the top, the better. Some stores to check out for stylish crop tops at good prices are
Forever 21,
Wet Seal,
H&M, and
Urban Outfitters (look in sale section of Urban O. site for good deals!). As for sweaters, jackets, coats, etc., anything goes great. Baggy vintage sweaters are encouraged!
Jewelry goes great with this trend. Pile it on!!!!!
For shoes, anything really goes. Personally, I think wedges, boots (if they're over-the-knee, I recommend wearing SHORT short shorts to balance proportions out), sneakers, and some flats go well with this trend. Wear what you think looks good though! You'll know if it's fierce or a hot mess. (Christian Siriano love!)
As I mentioned before, there are many different kinds of high-waisted items, but the materials are fun to work with, too. There's the classic denim look then there's high-waisted floral shorts which are very cute (I bought some at Macy's a couple weeks ago... they're so flowy and comfortable). You can get cut-offs, distressed, tailored, dressy, flared-out, baggy, and tight styles. So many possibilities...
Now after reading everything you wanted (or not) to hear about these unique shorts, it's time to actually go out and buy some! Ha ha ha. So
tips on buying them: Go to the thrift stores before you head down to Forever 21 or Urban Outfitters to buy a $20-50 pair. I've gotten lots of high-waisted items at both Goodwill and Savers. In fact, that's the
only place I've gotten this trend. At Savers I found a pair of vintage light-wash Levi's high-waisted jeans. For 4 bucks. 4 BUCKS. So I got them and turned them into trendy cut-offs.
I would say depending on the material that you want, go to the thrift shops first. If you're looking for leather or suede high-waistedness, it's going to be more expensive since those materials in the long run generally are. No matter what though, I'm sure you can find some cute high-waisted items to try.
Lemme know your thoughts on high-waisted talk and tell me about your blog! peace.love.jessndaisy@gmail.com or comment below.
Also comment about the one item/trend that you're obsessed with right now. Maybe it's the high-waisted trend!
